This project consisted of the renovation of an existing nurse station and family waiting room at Touro Hospital. KKA worked closely with staff to produce a visually interesting refresh on time and on budget. The family lounge was given new finishes, built-in seating, and a glass door for improved visibility. The nurse station received new millwork with an inset, curved resin panel and a solid surface countertop with waterfall sides. Along the corridor, additional built-in seating with a backlit, inset resin panel provides informal seating as well as a signifier for the Senior Care unit.

The new finishes lighten and brighten the spaces, creating a feeling of well-being for patients and their families. The brighter colors also aid in wayfinding, directing visitors from the elevators to the lounge or nurse station.
