EJGH Cath Lab Expansion

This renovation expanded the existing Cardiac Cath Lab at EJGH into an area that previously housed the Cardiology Center and administrative offices. The project was uniquely challenging as the new program had to integrate with an existing and continuously operating Cath Lab. KKA developed detailed phasing plans to allow for an efficient transition that did not disrupt hospital operations.
The new program includes 22 patient pre/post operative bays; one of these bays is an AII airborne infection isolation room, and one is a TEE (transesophageal echocardiography) room. The renovation also added three nurse stations, two interventional imaging rooms, and associated support spaces. Three of the existing catheterization labs remained in place, and two shell spaces were reserved for future build-out. KKA coordinated extensively with equipment manufacturers, engineers, and the contractor to ensure proper placement and installation of the advanced diagnostic imaging equipment.
Finishes were coordinated with the branded palette that KKA developed with the LCMC marketing team. Bright teal accents are balanced by neutral tones and warm wood casework. Soft curves in the nurse station casework, echoed in the floor and ceiling finishes, create an approachable feel for patients.
