Mary Queen of Vietnam Field House

Client: Mary Queen of Vietnam Church

Location: 14001 Dwyer Blvd, New Orleans, LA

Square Footage: 2,000 sf

Mary Queen of Vietnam Church was established in 1983 and is an anchor of the Vietnamese community in New Orleans East. This Field House addition will serve as a restroom facility for parishioner activities, some of which (such as the Vietnamese New Year celebration) draw attendees from all over the New Orleans metro area.

The building’s design achieves an aesthetically pleasing look while keeping cost and maintenance to a minimum. A CMU structure is accented by a glass storefront entrance framed in thermally modified wood siding, a material which retains the look and feel of natural wood while being extremely easy to care for. This glass entrance vestibule creates a light and airy circulation flow through the building.

KKA carefully sited the building to welcome both visitors and parishioners to the recreational sports park.
