Miriam Swift
Designer
Miriam Swift believes that good design should not be a luxury, but an essential part of every built environment. She is committed to designing beautiful spaces that not only meet the needs of their users but improve the quality of their lives. Miriam enjoys building relationships with owners and user groups by learning about their specific needs and perspectives. She strives to remain curious and open to new ideas, as each project brings its own challenges and opportunities.
Miriam has worked in many different areas of design, including healthcare, higher education, and research laboratories. She attended Rice University in Houston, TX, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture and Art History, and a Bachelor of Architecture. She began her career at Cambridge Seven Associates in Cambridge, MA working on hospitality and education projects. Later she worked with 3D/I in Houston, TX developing best practices for school, university, and research laboratory design. She authored two white papers published in School Planning and Management magazine which outline aspects of this research. During her time in Atlanta, GA she worked with Lord, Aeck & Sargent Architecture, putting her research to work designing education, research, and healthcare spaces. After moving to New Orleans, she further developed her healthcare experience working with Fernandez + Johnson Architecture and Kennedy Kraft Architects.
Outside of the office, Miriam’s husband, two sons, and two rescue dogs keep her busy. She is an active member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Lakeview, chairing their Buildings and Property Committee and serving on the Lay Pastoral Care Team. She loves a good book, a long walk, and an afternoon hunting for vintage furniture.
